The 2010 Chapter Challenge: A Study in Values will begin at our February meeting. We will be doing a square completed in the log cabin pattern. The finished project will be about 4” square. Choose two colors of thread in light and dark values. Many of you have already signed up to work on donated linen and canvas. We still have plenty available; however, if you want to choose your own, then bring about an 8” square of 18 count ground fabric. For this program, we will begin with the woven square that is #7 from last years Chapter Challenge. Bring two colors in the darkest values to start.

Block Layout
The diagram below shows the log cabin pattern, with each log numbered in the order they will be worked, beginning with the center square and working out. All logs are worked over 8 canvas threads if working on canvas and over 16 threads if working on linen.

• Areas 1, 3, 5, and 7 will be worked in DARK values.
• Areas 2, 4, and 6 will be worked in LIGHT values.
